The short answer
Workout Samurai has seven samurai titles, earned by level: Ashigaru, Ronin, Bushi, Samurai, Hatamoto, Champion and Daimyo. Level comes from lifetime XP, and a push-up is worth 10 XP before bonuses. Enter your lifetime reps and this returns the title that many reps reaches on their own, which is a floor rather than a forecast.

How samurai titles are earned
Titles in Workout Samurai track accumulated progress rather than a single performance. Your level is derived on the server from lifetime XP, and titles unlock at fixed levels along that curve. Because push-ups are the main source of XP in a push-up game, the practical answer to what earns a title is: reps, over time, plus the campaign levels those reps clear.

The curve is quadratic, which is why the early titles arrive quickly and the late ones do not. Getting from Ashigaru to Bushi is a few hundred reps. Getting to Daimyo is tens of thousands, and it is meant to take a long time.
Titles are not divisions
There are two ladders in the game and they answer different questions. Titles measure everything you have ever done and never reset. Divisions measure one ranked season and soft-reset when it ends. A player can hold a high title and sit in a low division after a quiet month, and neither number is lying.

Division thresholds are held server-side and are not published, so there is no honest calculator for them and this page does not pretend otherwise. What can be said is what matters: divisions are scored on verified reps, and no purchase moves you up one. More on how seasons work on the clans and seasons page.
What cannot move either ladder
- Money. Gems buy cosmetics. There is no purchase anywhere in the game that raises a title or a division.
- A subscription. Dojo Premium lets you train without waiting, adds weekly rest insurance and allows back-to-back clan raids. The game's own comparison table lists leaderboard rank as earned in both columns, on purpose.
- Self-reported numbers. Reps are counted by the camera and validated server-side, so there is nothing to type in and inflate.
How to climb faster, honestly
The only lever on a title is total verified reps, so the useful question is how to accumulate volume without stalling or getting hurt. That is a training problem rather than a game problem, and the answers are the same ones that apply off the app entirely: train the movement several times a week rather than daily to failure, keep most sets short of failure, and re-test occasionally so you can see the trend.

What is the highest rank in Workout Samurai?
Daimyo is the top samurai title, unlocking at level 80, which reps alone would reach at around 62,410 lifetime push-ups. On the season ladder, Master is the highest division. The two are independent and you can hold a high title without a high division.
How is level calculated in Workout Samurai?
The server derives level from lifetime XP as the floor of the square root of XP divided by 100, plus one. A push-up is worth 10 XP before bonuses, and clearing campaign levels pays additional XP. The curve is quadratic, so each level costs more than the last.
Do ranks reset in Workout Samurai?
Titles never reset, because they record work you actually did and taking a month off does not undo it. Season divisions soft-reset when a season ends, which is what makes them a measure of recent consistency rather than of lifetime totals.
Can you buy a higher rank?

Do titles or divisions affect what I can do in the game?
They are recognition rather than gates. Neither unlocks features, and neither is required to play the campaign, join a clan or compete in a season. They are a record of the work you have already banked, which is the only job they were given.
What is the difference between a title and a leaderboard position?
A title is a permanent marker of accumulated progress that only you hold. A leaderboard position is your standing against other players in the current season, expressed as a division. One measures your history, the other measures this season's work relative to everyone else's.
